Upper Dublin Republican School Board Candidates will
participate in October 8th Forum despite opponent’s withdrawal.
Fort Washington, PA – Upper Dublin Republican Committee Municipal Chairman Jack Coupe announced today that Upper Dublin Republican School Board Candidates Nancy Marsden, Joe Koenig, Brendan Cambell, Martha Esguerra-Toll and Rob Rosenthal will participate in a school board candidates forum sponsored by the Maple Glen Business Association scheduled this Thursday evening, October 8th, 7 P.M. at the Upper Dublin Township Municipal Building, 801 Loch Alsh Avenue, Fort Washington, despite the withdrawal of their opponents. Democratic incumbent candidates’ announced earlier this week they would not participate in the forum, citing concerns of bias.
Coupe added “We are sincerely disappointed that Upper Dublin voters will not have the chance to observe and evaluate an open, side-by-side debate of the critical issues in this election. Upper Dublin Republicans are fighting for openness and transparency in School Board activities. Unfortunately, our opponent’s decision further highlights these concerns and leaves Upper Dublin voters with only one-way paths to have their questions answered. Our opponent’s eleventh hour decision also sends the wrong message to our children, who now learn that free and open debate on key issues is not as important as politics. Our candidates remain committed to participate in this forum.” Coupe characterized the Democrat’s offer of an open house later in October as “a move to highlight only the incumbents’ positions, rather than an opportunity to compare key viewpoints. We hope our opponents will agree to a fair and open discussion regarding the future of Upper Dublin Schools. We remain ready to debate the incumbents. We appreciate MGCA’s efforts to host this forum to benefit Upper Dublin residents.”
